What Vaccinations Are Required for Dog Boarding?

At Paw Prints Dog Hotel, your dog’s health and safety are our top priorities. When dogs stay in close proximity to others, the risk of spreading or contracting infections increases. That’s why it’s essential to ensure your dog’s vaccinations are up-to-date before their stay with us.

Why Should Your Dog Be Vaccinated?

Vaccinations help protect your dog by introducing them to weakened or inactive versions of diseases, allowing their immune system to build resistance. Some diseases can be life-threatening, making vaccinations the best way to keep your dog safe.

Most dogs receive regular booster shots from their vet each year. If your dog hasn’t had their boosters recently, it may take 3-6 weeks for the vaccine to provide immunity, so it’s important to schedule this well in advance of their stay.

Required Vaccinations for Dogs

Your dog’s vaccinations must be up-to-date before boarding with us. These include protection against:

• Parvovirus

• Hepatitis

• Leptospirosis

• Distemper

Some of these vaccines provide immunity for up to three years, while others need an annual booster. Please double-check your dog’s vaccination schedule with your vet to ensure they’re fully covered at least 14 days before their stay.

Kennel Cough Vaccine

(Bordetella and Canine Parainfluenza)

The Kennel Cough vaccine is not always part of a dog's routine vaccination schedule, so it must be specifically requested from your vet. Kennel Cough is highly contagious and can lead to sneezing, coughing, and chest infections.

• The Kennel Cough vaccine is administered as a nasal spray, not a needle.

• It must be given at least 14 days before boarding to be effective.

• This costs around £30.

Additional Health Tips

• Ensure your dog is up-to-date with flea, tick, and worm treatments at least 7 days before their stay.

• Bring proof of vaccinations to check-in, as we are unable to accept dogs without this documentation.
